I knew.

by Brittany   Mar 2, 2007

My throat catches unable to speak
My hearts cold and fails to beat
My eyes refused to see the truth
Maybe it's because of my youth
I watched it all
While everything began to fall
Stubbornly I pretended nothing was wrong
But I knew it wouldn't be long
Now look at what I've done
I hurt everyone

Watching as I begin to peal
I start to wonder who's for real
You once told me we're forever
This was all just you being clever
I'm the one who closed my eyes
I'm the one who couldn't hear your lies
I'm the one who made the mess
I'm the one worth nothing less

The outer shell I've worked so hard for
Has crumbled and fell and is no more
I wasn't made for all of this stress
But everyone just started to press
Now no one hears my little plea
And no one knows the real me
Now what's left to do but escape
This world of hate you help shaped

It's come to this so I'll take the risk
One last time I'll shut my eyes
And never again will I hear your lies

It was pretty good. But let me give you a little advice: When you read the poems that u write yourself, you understand them (because ur the one who wrote them) But sometimes when other people read poems, they get a little confused on "why?" as in "what caused the poem to be written". I'm just saying that poems are a whole lot better when you make it clear to people. Your poem was really good. I just know that you can be even better. :)
