Wolf Skin

Wolf Skin

:Dedicated to Sylvia Plath:

Such a sight-
as angels with ropes
pull tighter the cords
let the light feathery feeling
lift your feet from dust.

flying swords and arrows
Striking, piercing
the hollow shell
the becomes you-
Not such a shock.

dripping into a goblet
painting the walls this harsh a red
not so much seeking the grail,
as you are the journey-
clandestine crime.

Your real suit is frail and worn
Your wolf skin looks like it never bleeds.
but rip it, and what shall depart
'cept all you strived with cloth to hide
Pandora's curse unleashed.

Bright Lights
deceiving eyes see what true ones do not
Another Aphrodite is slain
At first-
strange, numb fluttering feeling
then, all too clear.

Then, blindness
Yes, it is.
Such a sight.

~I decided that if i was going to write about her, i wanted to create something like her own style; with contemplative stanzas and references to history. For all her poetic life she was hiding her despair beneath her physical image or "wolf skin". ~

I can appreciate this (as a Plath/Sexton fan-check out poems by Jorie Graham, another noted female poet). The style is dead-on, the images striking and full of meaning.Very well done. Yet another great piece!
