Leaving.

by ALEX   Mar 4, 2007

She wrote love on her left hand,
And hatred on her right.
Then she ran them under water,
And she scrubbed with all her might.
The letters blurred, now you can't tell
Which word was on which hand.
For everyone who ever cried,
She bravely took a stand.

She left him as the clock struck one,
With darkness as her veil.
In case, by chance, he should awake,
She calmly hid her trail.
She brought a sweater, her favorite jeans.
She knew she wouldn't be back.
A bottle of water, a bad of chips,
And that was all she packed.

Then she emptied his wallet right into hur purse,
Quietly opened their front door.
Looking over her shoulder, she shivered with joy,
Because now he would hurt her no more.
Then she took a deep breath and she got in the car.
Put the keys in the ignition.
And she drove away, straight out of that town,
Without a glance back in his direction.
