Will We Ever Know?

by Hurtingsoul   Mar 4, 2007

I wonder just for the sake of wondering
If I could ever go back
To the time of bliss
Where hope was not far away
And hate did not exist
Back to the place where the sun shines
And the skies were not gray
Where the word war had no meaning
And guns were never invented
The place where a smile was just a smile
And frowns were rare

Then sometimes I ponder just for the sake of pondering
If the place I remember was real
If my mind was bewildering the truth for a dream
If there was really a place where there was more light
Than darkness and Grey lines covering happiness

But then I start to think just for the sake of thinking
If we will ever know if a place like that can be true
Will we ever know what peace can actually be like
Will we ever know?
Just for the sake of knowing

(: This piece is very unique. I loved the first lines of each stanza ... wondering for the sake of wondering. We often times as people wonder about the things you stated in your poem, but sometimes feel we need a reason to think about them. I love that you admitted sometimes we think, just merely to think (: The flow was solid, and I really enjoyed reading this piece. And I truly believe this place exists, so don't ever let the sorrow, or agitation shut your eyes from it!

    Good job!
    Keep it up!

A very interesting question rising in this poem. If there were no guns and war was meaningless, would we have peace. Liked the way you presented it, a definite 5/5

I don't know what it was; I can't pinpoint it, but something about this poem just made me love it. It was brilliant, and I just wanted to keep reading more.

I loved the repetition of "...just for the sake of..." - great work, overall.
