Punishment of the Accused

by Sara O   Mar 5, 2007

Blank eyes stare at me believing false lies
No emotions is stirred when they hear my cries
They continue the beating, the instrument of their cruel hate
No guilt is felt by the crimson wounds they create

They drag my limp body to a wooden stake
I will be an example of the evil they make
With barbed wire, I'm ungently bound to this cause
Its too late to retract the truth and escape corruptions jaws

I cant believe the bruises now gracing my skin
Were pounded into my flesh by ones I once called kin
They black my eyes and call me names
Just so they have someone to blame

I'm just an innocent accused of a crime
And since I didn't confess I don't have much time
I can already feel the heat on my heels
Sensing sweat roll down as my flesh peels

My screams echo all through the night
Wrenched by the flames as I continue this fight
Finally the echoes are silent, reflecting the grim scene
Burnt flesh littered the site, never to be washed clean
