Songbird

by Melissa   Mar 5, 2007

I am a lonesome songbird
trapped inside this steel cage of words
and my wings are attempting
to flap epistles on air,
but the only breeze they can feel
is a hypothetical gust
that flows inside a windless poem,
where the blue skies are nonexistent
and my melodies are forever unsung

So sad and haunting. The imagery and unique use of words/phrases are as usual, outstanding. Just remember, we are all free to break free of our cages and sing our own song.
