Betrayal

by S R P   Mar 5, 2007

Do you feel me lurking in the dark?
Unpredictable and hurt
Waiting for the moment to leave my mark.

Do you feel my eyes upon you?
They are always there
Ever watching your every move.

Do you feel my blade from behind?
The same way you stabbed me
while my eyes were yet blind.

Do you feel my hand across your throat?
Squeezing harder, wanting more
listening for the gasps of air while you choke.

Can you feel my embrace
the same embrace you led me to believe
while you led me to my disgrace.

Do you feel my wrath upon you?
stinging deeply
the hardship coming into view

Do you feel my betrayal?
The same you left me with
while setting up a different portrayal

The flow on this was hard for me to follow. I feel the sense of betrayal, but it doesnt ever totally eclipse. I think this could be a magnificent poem, if it had some editing. It started out good and got choppy. I kept waiting for something. I think you got something here, but it has no flow, or prose.
