Still, Alone

by thexshattered   Mar 6, 2007

You vanish for more than half the sky.
I trace all the stars with a needle in my eye.
A sudden crash and a pair of broken wings.
In the distance, a car alarm sings.

I'll remember this day for the rest of my life,
the time when an angel came down from the sky,
carrying a bundle of hearts in her arms,
and, in the distance, blares a car alarm.

She beckons me closer and hands me your heart:
it cracks in the middle, then falls apart.
Broken and beating, it's alive, yet it's bleeding;
I squeeze it in my hand, now I'm suddenly seething.

You left me alone for as long as you could,
and once you came back, it wasn't cause you would.
You were dead and gone, and someone brought you home,
but it still wasn't you, and I was still alone.
