Promise me

by Behind Blue Eyes   Mar 6, 2007

I see your smile.
I see your face.
I feel your touch,
Your warm embrace
And all my fears
They wash away.
As you remind me that
Everything will be ok.
And if I were
To shed a tear,
You'd remind me that
You're always here.
I try to force myself
To believe what you say,
To know that you'll be here
Everyday.
But deep down inside
I know that's not true.
You've told me, a year from now,
What you want to do.
There will be years that you're gone,
And not by my side.
I don't want to show you my fear,
But there are some emotions I can't hide.
And you're in a situation
Where you feel stuck.
I guess this time
You ran short of luck.
But I'm always here,
Never wanting to leave.
Because I love you so much,
More than you'd believe.
So make me a promise,
That your love for me is true.
Buy me a plastic ring
I'll say, "I do."
Let me know
You haven't given up hope.
Give me anything
That'll help me cope.
Don't give up faith.
Never forget.
This doesn't have to be
Another regret.
I love you,
I will admit,
More than life.
There's no other way to explain it.

This is a really great poem. i assume you are talking about the fact that the guy you love is leaving within the next year to join the marines. that has got to be really hard, and im sorry about it. my new boyfriend Seth who is 14, like me, is planning on leaving for the marines when he turns 18, and i dont know how im going to cope with that if we are still together by that time. stay strong!
