Heartbreak Town

by Jenni Marie   Mar 6, 2007

There's this place people go
Where houses are falling down
Deserted cars line empty streets
There's no one else around.

Windows are shattered
Flames line the streets
So desolate and empty
Overpowering heat.

Shoulders are hunched
Eyes staring at the floor
Slow, agonizing steps taken
People can't take it anymore.

Tears frozen on faces
No tears left to cry
Silent words unspoken
All people do here is sigh

Pain screaming out
Yet it goes unheard
People here wondering
How their life got so absurd.

Aimlessly walking the streets
Without making a single sound
Yet screaming inside silently
Free me from this heartbreak town.

Probably my favorite love poem that I've read.

People tend to forget there's two sides to love, and you've expressed the second, less popular one well here.

The imagery practically screams at you in the first stanza, but the second stanza is my favorite.

    Loved it! 5/5
