Lingering

by .K.i.T.t.Y.   Mar 7, 2007

Just as the last bell rings,
I pack away for the day.
I swing on my book bag,
And grab my jacket to go.

I turn around to see,
An all too familiar face,
Smiling ever so radiantly,
Eyes twinkle like the stars.

You stand towering,
Above the rest of the world,
Showing no fear,
But holding a caring heart.

You reach out a hand,
Escorting me out,
Keeping me close,
Before I head off.

Tenderly fingertips slip away,
But our feet remain planted,
Lingering- just for a second,
To intake such a beautiful moment.
