FORGIVE AND FORGET

by Harry Bryant   Mar 7, 2007

I woke up this morning, feeling so blue,
I haven't slept good, since I broke up with you,
jumped into the shower, scrubbed my self clean,
but you're still in my system, you know what I mean,
climbed into my pickup and drove to the bar,
it didn't take long, it wasn't that far,
I sat down at a table and ordered a drink,
I didn't really want it, but I had to think,
the jukebox was playing a sad country song,
about a true love that suddenly went wrong,
I thought about leaving, and going away,
there is too many memories for me to stay,
don't know where I am going, or what I will do,
of this I am certain, I'll still think about you,
you're a part of my makeup, you're part of me yet,
there is things about you, I'll never forget,
I ordered another, to chase the first down,
then one after another, my troubles to drown,
it don't seem to be working, my head's in a spin,
your memories lurking, I can't seem to win,
I wish you would call me, and ask to come home,
then we could make up and I'd not be all alone,
I'm leaving this tavern, going to where you live,
will ask you right out to forget and forgive,
you'll do as you want to, like you've always done,
to you I'll be begging, but it won't be much fun,
my begging is honest and comes from inside,
the love that I have, I can't seem to hide,
if you can't forgive me, our love will be over,
and with the morning I'll be just a rover,
from city to city, from state to state,
don't want any pity, I just want my mate.
