Killed In A Drive By

by Melinda   Apr 8, 2004

We were chillin' at the park
Just hanging out, having fun
The sun had set, it was getting dark
I guess we should have left then
But it was warm, a summer night
So we weren't in a hurry to leave
We thought everything would be alright
Till we saw the car pull up
It pulled up on us real slow
The windows lowered just a bit
I saw their guns and screamed NO!
All around me people were running
I was so scared, felt frozen in my spot
Time stood still for me
Then they let out the first shot
After that, there were so many
I really thought I was about to die
No matter how I tried I couldn't move
I got knocked to the ground by a guy
At first I didn't know who he was
I fell to the ground
Tears streaming down my face
I lay there till there was no more sound
Silently thanking God I was alive
I quickly scrambled to my knees
All around me people were hurt
Who saved me, I had to see
I rose to my feet, shaking and crying
I saw my boyfriend laying on the ground before me
There was so much blood
I prayed to God not to let this be
This is the man I love
Lord, please don't let him die
I lay my head upon his chest
And continued to cry
For I knew he was dead
This man died for me
I never knew he loved me that much
If only I had took the time to see
And show that I loved him too
I lost him to a gang drive by
All over colors and territory
It's no reason to have to die
Especially because he was trying to give up that life style
