The Day The Music Died

The Day The Music Died

Oh was it such a long time ago
The age of life I missed out on
When the love and music flowed
How is it that i remember it?
The drastic news on the doorsteps
Something within burned-out inside
The day the Age of Music died.

(beat picks up and guitar builds)

Whoa ya and what about that Rock and Roll!
Can it shake your bones and move your soul?
Feeling the rythm to the bottom of your shoes
When we stepped and spun to jazz and the blues
I know with my spirit, if I got just one chance
I could change minds and make the people dance!
Then maybe everyone would be kind for a while
If music could bring them to tears and smlies

Oh and what of this Jesus and God above?
I swear I could write the book of love
Because for one so young i have loved so much!
When some others I know never even had a touch
Let me be the savior in this generation of disgrace
Since were all still stuck in this same old place
I feel I can break this reign of terrorism spell
I am the Child of War and Peace, angel from hell!

I met a beautiful woman who danced a lyrical
as she sang the blues while she spun and twirled
I asked her why it was she mercifully cried
she sadly smiled and said "this is the day i die"

That day..Oh the music just wouldn't play...
In the streets, children ran and screamed
the lovers wept, the poets dreamed
not a song uttered, not a word spoken
I looked above to see the church bells broken
towards the meadow I walked to sunset skies
There I sat alone and cried
The day the music died...

Positively beautiful. Very powerful, and a perfect choice of words. And you even portrayed a rhythm that held steady, and flowed excellently.
You're still one of the best, Wolf. Good job.
