Sweet Dawn

by Twisted Heart   Mar 9, 2007

Arise with the beauty of dawn
Feast your eyes upon the splendor
As the sun reflects against the hills
Lift eyes to moon's surrender.

As day breaks against the sky
The stars have left a dying glow
To tend the sun upon the rise
And seize the wind that gently blows

Let eyes reflect the beauty seen
As flowers dip in grassy dew
Then raise their petals, so serene
And catch the sun in heaven's view.

Breathe the nectar of the day
Basking in the sweet perfume
Listen to the morning birds
That whistle softly, a lovely tune.

Along the horizon, lay your eyes
See heaven's cast in red bouquet
Watch as creatures start to stir
As Nature tunes the morn's display.

Absolutely amazing that you could write this without sounding cliche, but I am never surprised when you do it Jeannie, a beautiful write for all to be captured in the splendor. Kudos, Timothy r

As always, a beautiful poem. But i have to tell you, i interpreted it an a way i don't think anyone else would.
You see my mom is called Dawn and you might know the whole story from RTVW but she doesn't live in this country anymore. She left and remarried with more kids and as i was reading this poem, it felt like it was talking about her.. if that makes sense

"Breathe the nectar of the day
    Basking in the sweet perfume
    Listen to the morning birds
That whistle softly, a lovely tune."

That stanza especially reminded me of living in South Africa with her before i came back home and i could smell her perfume as we watched the sun rise..

So i think it's safe to say, your poem has double meaning for me.
    Thank you for writing it
