Pass Me By

"I think everyone write a story in their head that eventually becomes their life. And, if you don't write it yourself, then someone else is going to write it for you" -- Flicka

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Each day a page is supposed to be turned.
But, in my story, I am stuck on the same page.
I want to move on to the next chapter.
And, each time I try to jump ahead, I get pulled back again.
All I know is the here and the now.
Nothing seems to want to change.
I let a cry out for help.
Someone needs to come and rescue me.
They need to be the last part of my story.
We can end this story with a happily-ever-after.
But, if no one comes, I won't be able to continue to write.
I can only wait for so long.

It's another new day.
But, I am still on the same page.
The sun is sinking behind the hills.
And, the warmth from the fire is calming.
I am holding my book in my hands.
I don't want to remember my past.
And, I won't write about my future.
My days of writing, are over.
I reach out my hands and let my fingers slip from the book.
It seems to be falling in slow motion but, finally lands on top of the wood.
The cover burns and the pages curl in.
My words are now in ashes.
I no longer have to dream of a fairy tale ending.
I just have to sit back and watch this life pass me by.

I really enjoyed the poem, I can most definitely relate to the feeling of never moving from one spot, always stuck in one place, going niether forward nor backward. i especially liked,
"I don't want to remember my past.
And, I won't write about my future"

I think those lines basically summed up the meaning of the piece and elaborated on the feeling of being, more or less, trapped in time. Good job
