That girl we used to be

by pennylane   Mar 10, 2007

You were my best friend
my love, my hero
it was me and you, forever
but forever turned to zero.

it was always the 2 of us
as if we both were one
staying up late and messing around
countless times of fun.

you were my rock, what happend
to that girl we used to be?
the one who was so happy,
whos life was so carefree.

the days turned into weeks.
and slowly she fades away,
but in my mind she'll always sit
that girl forever stays

and tho she cant shine threw
and tho we both know better
i'll carry her in my heart
forever, and ever, and ever

I like this poem. I really liked the interpretation of a friendship into a single person, and the eccentuation of how powerful the relationship was by describing two people as one.

I don't know if this really matters but there were a couple spelling errors, "tho she cant shine threw"
    *through
    *though
I don't think you really care about that, just though I'd point it out, haha sorry. Anyway good read. I can definitely relate to the feeling of loss and how bad it can get when losing someone that close to your heart
