Boy girl or other?

by KAP DAR   Mar 10, 2007

When a baby is born
theres a question
on the tip of every ones lips
every one wants to know
Is it a boy or a girl?
Like death and taxes
so what happens
when a baby is born
that don't fit into
the gender mold
What happens when a child is born
intersexed with characteristics of both sex's
with anatomy that someone else decided
is not standard for a male or a female?

The very fact of natural variations
is not in to days common conversations
not every baby is born vanilla or chocolate
male or female for those fortunate enough
to still have whats rightfully yours
one in one hundred
babies are born
different from standard practice
male or female

labeled as "gender problems"
Fearing obstacles a child may not fit
into a gender box world
of chance encounters
well-intentioned but sadly mislead
life-altering decisions made
with a knife instead
of giving a child opportunity to grow
to mature as a unique individual
with an authentic sense
of their gender body sexuality

easier to dig a hole
than to make a pole
a quote one Doctor said
intersexed babies altered
to look female primarily
stigma and trauma
Parents distress
must not be treated
by surgery on child
give the parents counsellings instead
a quote many intersex people have said
including me

So...you're like both? maybe that has something to do with your writing being so interesting. Idk, but I like it.
