Wilted Rose

by Twisted Heart   Mar 10, 2007

God looked down on earth one day
Amid st the hunger and decay
And saw a girl perched on the edge
Of a fifteen story window ledge.

Younger eyes that searched the sky
The darkness of the graying light
As teardrops fell against the breeze
That lifted up her hair with ease

In heart and soul her questions came
And beat against the torrid rain
Was this the life that God had chose
To kill the light of a wilted rose.

Too many trials she had to face
More and more each passing day
Until the answers got lost inside
The hole of pain that opened wide.

One step closer, the edge in view
No one would miss her, this she knew
And as she searched the teardrops came
And mixed quite well with the torrid rain.

For just a moment in her mind
She heard a voice say, "give it time,
Hold on for just a minute longer
What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger".

Once more she searched among the skies
A voice she heard and not deny.
She stood strong in the winds of change
As thoughts inside her rearranged.

Was it a faith that held her fast
Against the wall as heartache passed
And in her soul found strength anew
To conquer all she was going through.

She wiped the tears from fallen eyes
She felt the breeze as raindrops died
She turned away from the window's edge
And left her heartache on the ledge.

    Oh wow Jeannie...
What an excellent ending to an otherwise very sad poem.
I'm sure so so many people have felt like this and too many leave the world with heartache intact.
This poem shines a new light on an otherwise dismal day
    Love it..

WOWWOWWOW!!! I mean, this is sooooo good....i could completely and totally picture this whole piece in my head, and the torrid rain and teardrops being repetitive parts was very visual and effective. A new favorite poem of mine with a fabulous ending to boot!
