Eternal Seconds of Remorse

by Carlee Ann   Mar 13, 2007

Hold me in your sight, oh
Hold me like I was divine
Nothing is holding us back now
Nothing but values and time

I sit here with my sad guitar
Looking out upon the haze
Strumming melancholy melodies
Lost comfortably in my daze

The bare light bulb hangs above
Illuminating what shouldn't be
The cafe sighs rhythmically
In tune with the air and me

The last note trickles out of my guitar
A reminder of the life I could've had
If I had known then what I know now
Perhaps life wouldn't be so bad

I look up and see you hiding
It can't be real, but there you are
I breathe in your eyes, your lips;
Re-opening that painful scar

I set down my guitar and walk
Ever so quietly to you
Just your presence, heavenly;
Oh, you don't know what you do

For eternal seconds we stand
Face to face, we contemplate
The fury that broke us apart
And today, that led us to fate

Our lips are coming closer now
It's so wrong that it's right
I've given up on morals now
I can't keep up the fight

A tear falls on your lips
Surprised, I glance at you
I realize that you're not alone
I am crying too

I kiss the tear off your lips
But the touch is bittersweet
I have dreamed of it so long
But we were closer to defeat

I held your hand and whispered
The words you longed to hear
"I always loved you, always will
Don't shed another tear."

"It isn't right today," I said
"But maybe someday it can be."
I walked away from you again
I never looked back to see.

I walked outside and collapsed
The street cold beneath the moon
I quivered and I prayed to God
That someday would be soon.

Wow girl. After reading this it fills the body with a certain emptiness and longing. I've been there praying for that kiss, that right time, to wash away ones tears forever.

I will patiently wait so that I can read more of your mastercrafted pieces. Maybe your next one will be titled "Time Now Ripe".

    Lots of love
