Imagine.

by Ironic Allure   Mar 13, 2007

I'm going to tell you a secret,
and i hope the jump will unburden you.
these dreams are fading slowly
growing few and far between.
I've left the pictures in this box,
to keep the memories warm,
when these thoughts are frozen stiff,
they'll burn away the edges.
I'm not saying she's a bad influence,
but there's only room for meltdowns and change.
just because this wasn't what you expected,
doesn't mean it's bad for you.
memorise my footsteps of all the places I've been.
do as i do, not as i say,
I've spent a long time chasing shadows away.
one day I'll spend an hour
touring your imagination.
I'll find the stitches you deny having.
and I'll separate the seems,
to show me where you've been and how you got there.
there's this laugh of transparency,
that you don't know that i can see,
and every time you smile and crease the corners of your mouth,
we share expressionless voices and
you stretch the truth a little bit more.
those stitches will blow any minute,
underneath the weight of my words.
i hope they explode in anticipation.
that leaves you drained and disappointed.
I'm not what you're looking for,
there's just a steady shoulder.
you're free.
screw this last thing up real good.
you'll be finished with this dream.
the ending will be happily received,
I'm just beginning to see.
your imagination's not that vague.
