TOUT PASSE, TOUT CASSE, TOUT LASSE

by Gary Jurechka   Mar 14, 2007

I was never
a subscriber to dogmatic doctrine,
but choosing instead to
harbor self-employed dreams,
delusions of idealism,
a faith of cafeteria catechism.

Catering to the quandary
of the ego and superego,
ever seeking the rai'son d'etre,
to be a mahatma of my self wrought world.

Chaos theory, religion, quantum physics,
existentialism, spirituality,
and a thousand other theories and philosophies
clutter my thoughts.

The Holy trinity:
How I see myself;
how others see me;
what I truly am.

All the identities and images and ideology;
it all matters not, for in the end
only the worms and maggots and soil
shall render me immortal,

my life a random walk of noble nothingness.

Tout Passe, Tout Casse, Tout Lasse- everything passes, everything perishes, everything palls

Rai"son D'etre-reason for living, justification for existence

NOTE:FOR SOME REASON THIS SITE KEEPS COMING UP 'ERROR' FOR THE CORRECT SPELLING OF reason 'd'etre, mahatma. and the title. I will correct this when the site allows.

    This one is surely gonna be one of my favourite poems. I can imagine myself in the poem. You truly said that we keep on hunting our identity till our death. And finally we realise, Tout Passe, Tout Casse, Tout Lasse. May God bless u Gary.

    Dear Gary,

    We use up soooo much time trying to figure out why we are here.
    Does it really matter that much?
    And what if some day someone would find the ultimate truth, would that change anything?
    I think that what we all should do is live our lives to the fullest and act upon our beliefs and feelings and not worry about this kind of questions.
    The only real thing is love, Gary. The only thing that matters, truly matters in the end.

    Take care, brave poet! I loved this one by the way!

    This is absolutely amazing, Gary! What I love about your poetry is that it's so fantastic that I read each poem at least 3 times before commenting. There are so many different ways to interpret some of your pieces that you must to really take it all in. I adore your words and how you express yourself through them. I relate in ways I could never properly explain. My point is, this poem is awesome as is all of your work... ;o)
