Spirit of Defeat

by Charlene   Mar 16, 2007

Blackest night, brightest day
The phantom leaves her astray

Justice was her only purpose
Of why she had ventured on
Her longing journey had been worthless
This she never thought to come upon
Her final chance to right all wrong
Had by far been gone

Captured by her enemy
Hidden in an enchanted place
If she dared to try escape
Black wood forest is what she would face

Where hideous creatures and demons lurk
Courageous efforts just wont work
Sharpest thorns, smoothest stems
The darkened angel will condemn

Violet rose, emerald leaves
Lethal lies and dirty deeds
Thickest roots and willowed trees
Poisoned tips and tangled weeds

Her glassy eyes and tattered dress
Her guilty conscience, she must confess
Her only way to clear this mess

Left with nothing on this crusade
Her instincts warned but she disobeyed
Filled only with regret from her choices made

The wicked sorcerer had succeeded
Undermined, schemed, and cheated
With spite and envy she had been treated
Now her devoted spirit had been defeated.

This was an amazing poem. The description was superb and the flow was impeccable. I really enjoyed reading from line to line. Throughout the whole of the text I was mesmerized. Great job.
