Everything You Did

by TheWorldFellNUWerentThere   Mar 16, 2007

This is to Richard E. who died in the morning of March 15th 2007. He will be dearly missed. Instead of writing this as an older adult, I wrote it in perspective of a child with diabetes.

Everything You Did

Dear Mommy and Daddy,
This is a letter just for you,
Don't cry upon my death,
Just be happy I lived a life.

It's just fabulous up here,
Please don’t worry about me,
I'm not hurting anymore,
And I'm not dying over and over again.

Things change my mind everyday,
I don't look at the view down on earth,
But a view up in the skies,
Where I can see everyone and everything.

Everything you did,
Made my life worth it,
You gave me everything I wanted,
A brother and sister, a home, and life.

I truly learn in heaven,
I learned how to let you know I'm there for you,
But just not face to face,
I learned how to tell if you start thinking of me, just pray.

I know I can never come back,
I know I can never do the things I once could do,
But just hold me in your heart,
And I'll always still be with you.

Everything you did,
Has made me truly understand,
It's not the miles between us,
It's how we keep in touch.

But mommy and daddy,
I know I must go,
Never let you be the blame for me dying,
Let diabetes be the blame.

I just wanted you to know,
I'm always here for you,
You'll always be in my heart,
For everything you did.
