The World Shed A Tear

by Allison   Mar 17, 2007

The year 2001 day eleven
Fair New York in September
Was like any other day
No one thought they'd remember

Cars zooming around
People going on as they did
A "hello" and "good morning"
To their neighbors they'd bid

Coffee bought in the shops
And newspapers at the stands
Lights flashing red and green
Businessmen shaking hands

Children entered their classes
And sat down to hear
Just like they did
At this time every year

But the people at the machines
Knew something wasn't right
A plane on their maps
Was now out of sight

Something felt wrong
When the sky seemed to burn
Then time came to a stop
And the world didn't turn

The ground began to quake
Because of the explosion so loud
Flames and smoke engulfed
The tower above the crowd

For a moment everyone stared
At the hole when the plane
Had entered the building
Dark and black like a stain

There was shock on their faces
Screams filled the air
Some people kneeled down
And began to say a prayer

The news people arrived
Showed the world what they'd seen
This frightening, cold,
Horrible scene

And in the midst of it all
Came another airplane
Ran into the one tower
They thought would remain

They didn't want to admit it
But they knew that they should
Someone had done this
And they knew that they would

Screeching sirens and bright lights
Came zooming up the street
Though the firemen were scared
They refused to retreat

They ran into the tower
To get the people out
Suddenly that tall tower
Had a great shudder throughout

With a terrible noise
That made people wail
The towers crumbled down
It's structure too frail

And down came the towers
On the people inside
People were dying
"Help them!" we cried

But no one could stop the towers
Once they started to fall
Now a pile of rubble lies where
The towers once stood tall

People around the USA
Stopped to stand in fear
And in the first time in a long time
The world shed a tear

Wow ... this was just heartbreaking beautiful. You truly created the horrific scene clearly in my mind and I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved how in the beginning to described the normal lives of people, it made it so much more real. Your flow was flawless and the rhymes were not forced.

    Well done *5/5*

You have true talent and have won a place in my favorite authors. :]
