Eyes Speak

Heartbeat speeds up
hands tightly grip
as i start to walk by
mask starts to slip

dark eyes smiling
as you stare at me
i frown and wonder
what do you see

c o n f u s i o n

both of us stare
then turn away
for neither know
what there is to say

now i am cursing
for i cannot speak
when i need to be loud
i suddenly am meek

i r r i t a t i o n

though we have not
ever actually spoken
we have had a great
many conversations

for there were no words
actually exchanged here
the eyes speak volumes
for all the world to hear

w a i t i n g
wondering
never knowing
