Consumed By Sadness

by Cindy   Mar 18, 2007

Overwhelming sadness consumes me
Out of nowhere it appears, branding
Searing into my mind like a hot iron
Settling itself in my entire being

Grey fog you can't fight through
Dark clouds linger above me
Body struggling just to stay awake
Eyes slowly closing, so I can't see

In the depths of an unforgiving sea
As an anchor dragging me down
Never again to see the light of day
Echoing screams the only sound

Sinking into this nonreturnable void
Fragments of memories are no longer
The abyss erasing my happiness
Pulling into darkness even stronger
