The eyes

by Kayla Sonya Dearing   Mar 19, 2007

A smile is just a smile
A laugh is just a laugh
But it does not tell you the truth
The eyes do.

They show the pain that you hold back
They show the tears you want to weep
They show what your heart truly feels
They show everything that you conceal from the world.

The eyes,
They hold a great deal of passion
So why come no one is capable to notice it?
Why is it that everybody cannot see reality?

Are they too demanding for their own time?
To think about someone is hurting within.
Are they too demanding to stop for a single moment?
Just to lend a hand to someone?

The eyes hold a great deal of passion,
So why is it that the world is too blind?
Perhaps if someone could just gaze within the eyes
They may perhaps save a single being.

A smile is just a smile
A laugh is just a laugh
But the eyes are not just eyes.
They tell the truth of the sorrowfulness.

Sometimes we see more of the world looking into someone else's eyes, than looking out with our own. Nice poem.
