Scars

by Rebecca   Mar 19, 2007

Her past is a painful memory,
She loved him, but did not know how to let go.
He showed her his profound love for her,
But deep inside he was her one and only foe.

He would mistreat her, abuse her,
Disrespect and hate would flow from his lips.
She would suffer verbal harassment,
Broken ribs, cut lips and bruised hips.

But she finally taught him a lesson,
From all of this traumatizing blunder.
She took a stand and stood up for herself,
Now he is six feet under.

Running away from this previous life,
She has become so distantly vile.
She is far, far away from this past,
Because she had the courage to run miles.

She had to leave her family and friends,
But that is a price she is willing to pay.
She does not regret the crime she has committed,
Her confidence is building even to this day.

She lives everyday of her life to the fullest,
Gazing at the bright, midnight stars.
She will have to live each painful day,
Being haunted and tormented by these ugly scars.
