RACISM...

by katie T Scott   Mar 19, 2007

There's dirt on my hands mum
There's dirt in my hair
Its as black as those people out there mum
Its as black as them out there.

Go wash up my darling
Go and wipe it off your hem
You don't want to look like them my child
You don't want to be like them.

Why do they look so dark mum?
Why don't they look like we do?
They look like coal in the fireplace mum
why don't they look like you?

I said wipe it from your face my love
Wipe it off your white face
They look like that because my child...
Because they're a dirty race.

That man out there looks sad mum
That man out there does sigh
Is it because you called him dirty mum
Because now you've made him cry.

Now close your eyes and go to sleep my child
I did not mean to be unkind
Its what they are, you'll understand one day
I'm sure that they don't mind.

I like this a lot. Yesterday at school we had an assemlby about diversity and he basically made this a point. "Everyone is cacasion, some are just darker skined." This one 6th grader came up with it. In fact she was black.
