The Day You Leave...she already left and it\'s my turn next

by Aline   Apr 9, 2004

I know inside my heart
That the day you leave West and maybe Manchester
I'll be watching you walk away through my tears
Yes, you're only finishing your sophomore year
But I'm already dreading the good bye in 2003
The day you leave
Leave me behind as just a H.S. memory
The friendship we have means so much to me
I pray that I'll be more than just a memory to you
The day you leave
Don't wanna think about saying good bye, not yet
Caitlin, always remember this,
No matter where life takes you,
I love you and will always think of you
As a great friend and sweet person
I'll remember the days you were in Florida for Nationals
And how miserable I was without you
The memories from softball will always leave me with a smile
Especially that one game this season
When you ran onto the field,
All alone...
Shouting 3 up, 3 down!
Not realizing the game was done
And the day you leave
They will not put Caitlin Mitchell or Catherine Millette next to your picture in the yearbook
But it will have the correct name
And the day you leave
I'll smile and be happy
Only because that's what you'll want
Maybe, just maybe, the day you leave-
I'll get a hug from you
The day you leave
Will not be our final good bye
I have faith that we will always keep in touch
And when I was feeling like I couldn't go on anymore
You were right there
The day you leave, you'll be on your way
To fulfilling your dreams
And the day you leave
I'll cross my fingers
And hope that one day
The world will hear
Your light and airy soprano voice
Even after you leave,
If you should need someone to vent to
Always remember I'll be right here
And when you're feeling like you can't go on
Lean on me, I won't mind
It must have taken God a while
To create someone as sweet as you
The day you leave
I'll miss you lots
And I'll miss walking by your locker
Shouting hey Caitlin! and hearing hey Aline! in response
The day you leave will be a tough one
We got two years left
So let's make them fun
I love you, Caitlin
Don't ever forget it
Especially on the dreaded day
The day you leave me at West
To tackle my senior year without you
As I lay here writing this
I'm fighting off the tears
The tears I will again be fighting in 2003
The day you leave
