I try to rinse the stench of aldultery off my skin
try to wash his scent away
try to brush his lips off mine
try to place the hairs he misplaced
I try in vain
in my mind
one look at me screams ADULTERESS!
I don't know why this happens
I don't know why we do this
I just know it happens
leaving a trail of lies
that lead to the truth
hurting those around us
because we're hurting
so we make ourselves feel good
we find something in each other
and then we leave with the shame of our actions
written over wrinkled clothes
and rumpled hair
leaving traces of our rendevous
subconsciously hoping they are found
that we are found
so the world can know
what we leave each other knowing
we can never tell
so I hide traces of him
beneath perfume and makeup
and continue in the lies
with this scarlet letter upon my chest
Great poem it carried me along from beginning to end I love the way you approached this topic via your poem it flowed well and didn't need any rhyme, a couple of typo's that need fixing other than that well done!
