A Scarlet Letter (Invisible)

by Weeping Wolf   Mar 24, 2007

Scarlet Letter

She is running
against the light
in the wrong direction...
a 100 miles too fast, too far.

trespassing...
where no other woman
dare to tread.

She walks in shadow
Shes dressed in black
Head down, quiet steps.
Invisible to the rest.

Oh can anybody see her?
can anybody feel her?
She merely has this heart to borrow
because she is still in love with her sorrow.

without a friend by her side
she searches for what she can't find
her somber heart is soaked in sin
yearning, just another lonely person.

He watches her from afar...
sees her walk alone, sad eyes
He reaches for her, arms open
They embrace, but she walks on alone
because his love splashes her in pain
Shes a scarlet letter, drenched in shame
So she must turn away, and leave him standing.

Oh can anybody see her?
can anybody feel her?
She merely has his heart to borrow
for she...she is still in love with her sorrow...

Oh...scarlet letter, scarlet letter
they disgrace you with every dirty look
you bleeding scarlet letter,
they merely see the cover, not the book.

Wow. The ending... it just sticks in my head :]

I love it... it's really sad, but the metaphors and imagery help move it along. I like your repetition, too :)

If you have the time, can you please read, "Self Worth"? Thank you!
