It's been awhile
since that day
she wanted to forget,
for it to go away
she was trying so hard
to not remember
that single day
that changed her life forever
so angry with God,
for what she thought He had done
making her sisters life end,
when it had only begun
she blocked out her memories
of all the pain
she never saw sunshine,
only the rain
pretending all the time
that she was OK
while cutting her arms
to make the hurt go away
put a smile on her face,
acted like all was well
while secretly inside,
she was in hell
asking God why,
over and over again
why everyday,
she wanted her life to end
her heart was closed up,
by the young age seven
knowing there was a hell,
but not sure of heaven
she started to look in the mirror
and hate the reflection
hiding her feelings,
was her only protection
days went by
her arms filled with scars
like lines on the roads,
that are traveled by cars
she was not dead by fifteen,
but she was dying
it was blood and not tears,
that she was crying
forgetting about God,
and that He was always there
she blocked Him out like the rest,
He was invisible air
until one day
she dropped to her knees
asked Him for forgiveness,
that was her plea
she knew He had answered,
she felt it inside
a warmth in her soul,
as she started to cry
her life was renewed,
she could finally feel
knowing that happiness,
truly was real
now everyday,
she thanks Him with her heart
knowing that in her life,
He plays a big part
He gives her the strength,
to get through each day
she is finally free,
as her scars fade away
