The Shortcut

by Black Heart Boy   Mar 25, 2007

A Girl Walks The Same Route Everyday
Never Takes A Shortcut, Always The Long Way
Turning Left On Maple St. And Right On Jackson Rd.
Arriving On Overview Lane, To The House Her Mother Just Sold

She Opens The Front Door, Depressed As Always
Then Walks To Her Room, Which Is Up The Stairways
Starts Crying For The Horrible Day She Just Had
But This Is Not New, Shes Always Crying And Mad

She's Tired Of What She Goes Through, So She Rushes To The Room
Where Her Mother Holds A Handgun, Which Says BOOM BOOM
She Won't Cut Her Wrist Anymore, With A Simple Little Knife
This Time She'll Put The Gun In Her Mouth, To End Her Sorry Life

She Has Her Finger On The Trigger And A Tear In Her Eye
Wondering If She Really Wants To Die
Takes One Last Look Of Her Mother's Photo, So She Doesn't Forget
And Wonders Why Her Father And Her Never Met

She Says "I Take The Long Way Each & Everyday"
"But Today I'll Take A Shortcut So I Can Find My Way"
She Pulls The Trigger & The Bullet Goes Through Her Head
And She Falls Ever So Gently Right Onto Her Bed
