In Your Arms: A Ballad

Dreams are a very funny thing.
They can make you happy,
Sometimes they can make you crazy,
Mine are sometimes sappy.

I dream about a certain guy,
Who I wish would be mine.
He's had my heart for a long time,
With him the world is fine.

I once spent my days in his arms,
As a lover and a friend.
Our love was so incredible,
Too bad it would soon end.

I wish it could last a lifetime,
But sadly it cannot.
He doesn't have the same feelings
As the ones I have fought.

I couldn't let him slip away,
Like he did once before.
But we made it past those hard days,
When he would just ignore.

And with just one conversation,
Friendship was in good store.
Discussing how it used to be,
And how we wanted more.

For us, Friendship wasn't enough,
But love was not the key.
We didn't know what we wanted,
'Cept it's not meant to be.

Sometimes I can't wait to see him,
We always have good times.
Sometimes I want to strangle him,
But I don't commit crimes.

It's something I cannot explain,
It's making me go mad.
We are just perfect as we are,
Sometimes it's rather sad.

I don't know what I am doing,
I'm way over my head.
We are just perfect as we are,
At least that's what he said.

Oh my... that was chock full of the emotions that probably plague half the people on this site.
It's so confusing when friendship feels so wrong yet love is step to far..
    Excellent rhyming!
