Sorry's Just Another Word

Sorry is just another word
Just something to say
So that when something goes wrong
You can pretend its gone away

But "sorry" doesn't cut it
At least, not all the time
One word can't always take back
When you've gone out of line

Or perhaps we'll simply use it
Just to end a fight
But saying it for only that reason
Doesn't make it right

Sorry was a word
We'd say when we felt bad
When we'd realize we were wrong
In making someone sad

Sorry was a word
That tore tension apart
Because when it was said
It was meant with all our heart

But "sorry" has slowly died
The guilt isn't meant nor heard
It's just another free escape
It's just another word.
