Mirrors of Yesterday Reflecting Tomorrow

by Hannah   Mar 27, 2007

America the Beautiful,
Our country 'tis of thee
Founded by our fathers
The young, the brave, the free.
Underneath the stripes and stars
Are prisons with their locks and bars
And where the children's twinkling eyes
Are traded out for mournful cries.

The wall of morality is crashing down
No matter where you look
All you see is pain.
What happened to our nation
Seems it's failing God's creation
Bring back our life again.

The sound of crackling rifles
And the smoke of cigarettes
Plague our land with misery
Like gamblers losing bets.
Where once we stood and sang with pride
Now we turn to run and hide.
Violence floating down every street
Nothing to do but admit defeat.
