Self Worth

Self Worth

Her life was a battlefield, everything hurting
The greatest things disappeared, the pain never ending
Friends with their problems came running to her
Nobody could see that she had no self worth

Each day, the mirror was a mind control tube
The TV a pulpit, obeying the news
Feeding her mind with disgraceful things,
Her thoughts kept on circling in a meaningless ring

Each day was another, always lost fight
Everything wrong, nothing seemed right
Her mother would hit her, but nobody knew
She couldn't trust anyone, except for a few

Upbringing bitter, nobody could see
The struggle within herself, a need to be free
She started at nine, and worked herself up
Searching for treasure, a thing some call love

Her heart kept on aching, she never felt liked
She hated her family, just out of spite
Calling her names, her mom couldn't see
The person her daughter would grow up to be

The battlefield rages, each day is different
Sometimes she's happy, sometimes she quits
Over the years, will she break her curse?
All she needs to win is to find her self worth.
