Boy Soldiers

by Jemma   Mar 27, 2007

Words are bleeding
Through the lines on this page
Through the steel wires
That cut too deep

In a rebellion fought by boy soldiers
How can they live
When the air they breathe
Carries the stench of death?

The ink is running
Seeping through
The tainted fury
That’s getting deeper
Getting bolder
Braver
And ever more foolish

The boys with frozen sneers
Emblazed onto their faces
With stones held in their palms
And rocks crushing their hearts

Their words are bleeding
The words are bleeding
And their lives are seeping deeper,
Further, out of reach

The hope they used to have
Has fallen away
And the words are falling
And their hearts are sinking
And they are breathing
And finding nothing can take the pain away

Those little boy soldiers
Still thinking they’re just at play
When the risks are greater than they can stake
And the words are bleeding

This is a moving tribute to this terrible tragedy.....Good for you and your sensitive Soul to deliver it....
(all) war is hell.....how painfully much more so when it is fought by children........
    May Peace Prevail,
