selfishness overcomes.

which we really
can hide the truth
from unwanted
bonds with mortal men.

    I know this style =)
    It was for a contest right, i did one called free and i have to say, you might be tough competition ;)
    The tone of the poem seems bittersweet which instantly captures the attention of the reader and relates to them.
    At least, it does with me =)
