Half Hearted One

by Cheech   Mar 29, 2007

One day they were one,
started out as two.
Today he misses her;
He calls himself a fool.
He curses fate and destiny
for the lost yesterday,
for taking away the life
of an ever true dream
that fell to the ground,
that shattered his heart.
It took away the lovely kisses
that kept him warm
those cold winter nights
--when they were one.
It takes away his name
far from her mouth,
the sweet sound of her voice
angelical music, beatiful noise.
It takes away every minute
they held each other
her arms holding on stronger;
seconds lasting longer
delighted souls being one.
Long conversations forgotten
put away in their minds,
shortened hours spent
in an instant of a kiss
always making the feeling
as if it was the very first time.
Of all this haunts me,
for I was loyal witness
of when we were one.
