Disappointment

by Wings Of Flames   Mar 29, 2007

Disappointment

My gut lurched at the thought,
Excitement hit my eyes,
My face lit like a fire,
At the end of all demise,

My lips curved to a smile,
And I kept my head held high,
The world at my fingertips,
No I do not tell a lie!

Then a piercing sound,
One phone call to untwist,
All this joy in my heart,
Unraveled in my fist

My face turned blank,
As a tear fell in shock,
I was waiting, working hard,
And I’m running out of clock,

But never mind is all is said,
For it’ll never cost you,
And in sadness I am left,
With one thing left to do.

This poem had a definte raw emotion that immediately came out from your words as soon as I read it. You're flow was great, and imagery played a great part in this poem. Although, I don't like "And I'm running out of clock", it sounds a bit forced and awkward. And "But never mind is all is said", that line seemed a little misplaced. Maybe an extra 'is' was there by accident? But I absolutely loved your poem, every time I read your poem you always have something new to say - you're words just draw me in. Kudos!
