Mortal Wish

by Mr O   Mar 30, 2007

The sun sets and grows dim
My mind begins to digress
I drown for I cannot swim
Through memories I still possess

Brief was our time together
As are minutes to a day
No storms just perfect weather
Though are heart were led astray

A sweet sadness resides here in her place
Like hollow words and tear drops shed
Time marked in years shall not erase
These feelings that I have slowly bled

These moments are mine to hold
While gentle goes the fleeting hours
And in there passing I grow old
As soon shall my mourning flowers

If I could hold her but once more
One brief time before that last goodnight
On heavens wings would my heart soar
Looking in her eyes as my soul takes flight

If this mortal wish comes not to be
A final favor I must ask of you
Please give her this my last decree
"In life and death my love is true"

How can this not have comments??

"Please give her this my last decree
"In life and death my love is true""

That last couplet was so beautiful, yet so bittersweet.
    A talented piece
