Transparent gem

by Tara   Mar 31, 2007

Her blonde hair tied back
her head held up high
pasting a smile on her face,
yet trying not to cry.

cheering for the football team
and her special guy
but all that does is kill her,
she's living such a lie.

sneaking around the city
not wanting to get caught
holding her breath as she walked in her house
where her parents once fought.

and in the house, the memories came back
the fear, the joy, the death
and thats were she loved her daddy the most
and where he took his one last breath.

and now she's repairing her life
but covering up the scars
shes trying to act like someone she's not
and wishing upon the stars.

people envy her beautiful looks,
but there only a gem on the outside
because in her heart and soul and mind
everything has died

people wish they could be her,
when she wishes she were them
people would kill to live her life,
but she's just a transparent gem.-*-.

It was the title that attracted me (for obv reasons, lol) but the poem i found was just.. wow.
    Such a powerful message.
We always judge people on how they look without seeing the pain that lies underneath
    Great poem!
