Where is the Light in This World?

Where is the Light in This World?

The one place we called our heaven
Is now the only place known as hell
Where once only light belonged
A shadow crossed and darkness fell

In any darkness little lights shine
We always look up to and believe
No matter where we go in the night
There are stars above us that never leave

I wonder why we choose to follow
When they teach there is no forever
We look up to things that cant hold on
Without forever there is also no never

No one ever writes down a word
If that word they write had no meaning
We can't be expected to learn life lessons
Until we get the chance to start dreaming

Give one person the chance to believe
To stand there and point up into the sky
When its night time to move the stars
Give their own soul the wings to fly

Lets search until we found the ending
This ending becoming another beginning
Understand this child who never spoke a word
Yet the angels worship her for her singing

How a blind man somehow finds hope
He says that he will always be in search
To see the sky and the children play
While he is still here on this earth

A woman holds her newly born child
Every night she closes her eyes to pray
This woman has no feeling of touch
And prays she will feel warmth someday

A man that could never have taste
Had said all he could taste was love
Upon his lovers lips when they kissed
To never taste again now she is above

How could we understand pain?
If we haven't dug someone's grave
Someone we would hold hands with
And someone God wouldn't save

In this world of guns and hate
Some desperately search for light
They buried someone dearly loved
Here we are safe asleep night after night

Others wake up in the morning bright
Once they were just sleeping side-by-side
Now finding what once made them happy; gone
Without saying a sweet, sweet goodbye

Could life get any worse?
Than to loose the one you love.
To loose to the hatred around you
And to look up to the falling stars above.
