A Stolen Moment Shattered

by Elizabeth   Apr 1, 2007

I close my eyes and listen to the stillness of the night,
to the birds singing and the wind ripping through the tress ...
feeling the cool airs breeze.
Standing outside with my eyes closed I'm back there with you,
reliving it all over.

The rush of just being around you fills my entire body,
as I fall in love with you yet again,
replaying every moment in my head.
The butterflies in my stomach are almost too much to take,
As I look at you and think,
"Life is GREAT!"

Scenes of you and me are all I see,
Like sudden daja-vu I know I'm where I should be.
Once more looking deep into your eyes,
I think about how much I love you and begin to cry.
As the tears of joy stream down my face,
I snap back to this lonely place.

Tears of joy turn to tears of pain,
while I stand outside in the pouring rain.
The sounds of the birds and the sounds of the wind
are replaced by the shouting I hear within.

As I reach for the door I let out a sign,
Put a smile on and wipe the tears from my eyes ...
It's time to put on my disguise.
