Underneath the Doormat

by LostLikeTearsInRain   Apr 1, 2007

I'm so tired of this life
I can't go a single day
Without picturing your beautiful face
I stare at my clock hoping to get away

I told you I was your guardian angel
Do you remember what I said?
"If I ever let you fall,
I swear I'll throw away the life I've led."

Well I carried out every single word
Because now look at what I've become
A nobody among somebodies
Wondering where the pain is from

But I know where it's from
Even if I fool myself into not believing sometimes
The pain comes from the fact
That you're never coming back

I'm surprised when I see my blood
And how crimson red it is
Because I feel so dark
It should be black

Do my words scare you?
Do they make you tremble?
Do they fill your void of sadness?
Do they make your heart disassemble?

Or maybe they make you smile
Maybe even laugh
I'm left with only one piece of my heart
You are the other half

Do me a favor
Every time you feel broken
Just picture me
Words don't need to be spoken

Picture the face of a broken man
One who'd have gladly died for you
But when it came down to giving him one more chance
You just didn't want to

I'm locking up my heart
No miracle will come from this hat
But I'll let you in on a little secret
There's a key with your name on it, underneath the doormat
