Homophobia Kills

by Ryan C   Apr 1, 2007

Two lovers stricken with pain,
Knowing their love's worth,
Though it was a forbidden love,
Their family explained that from birth.

Taunted and tortured,
They faced it all together,
Their love was unconditional,
A love that no one could weather.

Screaming and yelling occured,
When their parents were told,
Not given a chance to explain,
They were sent out into the cold.

When they visited their local church,
From which they both often prayed,
The priest spit at them and sent them away,
Saying, "God hates you so be afraid."

And when they attempted to marry,
They were simply told no,
The two lovers were scared,
For they had nowhere to go.

Out in the cold of the streets,
The two lovers cried,
Wrapped in each other's arms,
The lovers both died.

They were never given any chances,
And they never created any noise,
But the two lovers were hated,
Merely because they were both boys.

Great poem. I am a girl but I do know what you mean. It's pathetic that people would rather see two guys holding guns than holding hands. Keep up the good work!
