What Would You Do

by David Marshall   Apr 2, 2007

What would you do,
If I wanted to give in.
If I said I was through.
And gave up everything within.

What would you do,
If I said i regret it all.
If I could go back at least a year or two,
And ignored all those calls.

What would you do,
If I suddenly resisted
If I said I was done with you
And that I wish our relationship never existed.

What would you do,
If I forgot everything.
If I started over; started new.
And forgot every pain, hurt, and sting.

What would you do,
If I told you I hate you.
If I said that you should be sorry.
And wasted my time just to wait for you.

What would you do,
If I forgot your name.
Because you finally meant nothing,
And that it was never going to be the same.

What would you do,
If I drifted away.
If I said you had let go,
And you would never see me again starting today.

What would you do,
When you realize I was the one.
That I cared for you.
And that I'm gone; and it can't be undone.

What would you do,
When you can't have me back.
And that you find that its true,
I'm gone forever; Gone for a fact.

What would you do,
When your looking at my tombstone.
Because now you know what I knew,
You know How it feels to be alone.

That's a utterly sad poem. I think the sorrow in it, brings its life. It would be lifeless if you hadn't poured all your frief into it. It truly shows every emotion that you wanted to portray. I couldn't pick my favorite stanza...
    I really liked
    "What would you do,
    If I forgot your name.
    Because you finally meant nothing,
And that it was never going to be the same"...
but the last stanza was very moving. I guess i loved every part of it...yeah I guess that's the best way to put it.

Brilliant write. This was amazing. The lines flowed beautifully and kept pace with the other stanzas. Magnificant job.
